Pokemon Go Battles Childhood Obesity, Experts Say

When was the last time anyone went into the woods looking for mystical creatures without choking down an eighth of mushrooms? Today, millions of sober people are unabatedly leaving the house searching for imaginary beings in Nintendo's latest blockbuster: 'Pokémon Go'. 


Here's how it works: After downloading the app and picking a team, one must start walking(physically) around gathering poke balls, pokemons, eggs, and healing spray.  eggs hatch after walking.  balls are needed to capture pokemons.  healing elixir is needed to heal your injured pokemon(s).  Pokemons can get injured after losing a battle at a 'Pokegym'.  Pokegyms are locations you go to compete against other teams, there are 3 teams you can join: Mystic, Valor, and Instinct...


What's not confusing about Pokémon Go is the impact it's having on players physical activity.  Average players are walking an additional 3.7 miles a day than they were before the game was released,  or in other words, burning almost an additional 400 calories. With over 7.5 million downloads in the US alone, it is on track to do more for childhood obesity than every previous childhood obesity initiative COMBINED!

How to Repair a Broken Drawer

Those of you with young children know that finding affordable furniture resembling anything close to a work of craftsmanship is next to impossible these days. After your child breaks one of their dresser drawers, consider this easy hack before paying a visit to home depot, or worse, going out and buying another shitty chest of drawers.

Simply line up everything as it should be, and using gaffers or duct tape, tape it back together.

Waking up to the sound of you dog eating cat poop out of the litter box is cringing.  K-9's snacking on cat feces is in fact a real thing, and it's not the healthiest of delicacies for our four legged friends.  For those of you with medium-sized dogs or larger(sorry Shih Tzu owners), this hack is one to consider as it takes very little time to install, costs less than $4.00, and keeps the dog out of the room the litter box is in.  All the while, your cat can freely move in and out to do the business.

How A Mining Rig Works

Mining rigs are magical devices which earn imaginary money used to purchase real goods.

The device pictured above may appear as though it was assembled by someone who was high on methamphetamine at the time,but it is in fact a mining rig currently mining Ether(eth). Ether is a digital currency earned after solving a puzzle on the Ethereum network.

Many digital currencies generate new coins through a "Proof of Work" concept, where the work is done through a process called 'mining'.  Mining involves a lot of digging, and the technical term for digging here is 'hashing'. Think of hashing as way of translating one spoken language into another: 'muy bien' = 'very good'.  What sets ethereum mining(and other digital currencies) apart from simply translating one spoken language into another is that there is a tremendous amount of guessing required in mining.  Imagine knowing only half of a predetermined complete sentence and you need to come up with the other half using only blind guesses.  Smaller sentences would be easy: "The sky is ____."  But larger ones: "If my uncle didn't lose his leg in that motorcycle accident _____  __ ___ _____ ____  ____?"  As a general rule, the sentences miners have to solve become more and more complex as time passes. These kinds of guesses are best carried out by graphics cards more commonly used in gaming computers. The amount of guesses a card can make is referred to as its hash rate. Higher the hash rate= more guesses per second.  First miner to solve the puzzle is rewarded with ether.  A new puzzle is posted around every 17 seconds or so.


above rig has (2) r9 280x GPU's on an ASUS M5-97 motherboard, 4 gigs of RAM(maybe 8, can't remember),  antech 750watt PSU(power supply),  an ssd @256Gig (can't easily stick mine Ethereum),  and 1-PCIE extension cable.  Ubuntu 15.0.4 is the operating system.
